Virginia Literacy Foundation. Logo

Soon after its inception, the VLF formed a partnership with the Virginia Department of Education's Office of Adult Education and Literacy in an effort to make an impact on the immense economic, educational, and social consequences of illiteracy that affect the future of Virginians expected to compete in a rapidly changing technological environment. This public-private partnership to combat illiteracy was the first of its kind in the nation. The Foundation has spent twenty years building and sustaining a statewide network of community-based literacy organizations and building collaborations with public and corporate sponsors, such as Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Center for Public Policy, and Verizon.
